About me:

Greetings to everyone!!

I am feeling enthusiastic, excited and motivated by the opportunity to work with others who are experiencing some difficulties and challenges in their lives at present.

I know that our journey together will be productive and those with whom I work will benefit tremendously and be freed from any pain, suffering or discontent they now feel.

I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me introduce myself.

As you have probably read, I am a certified business and life coach, brain coach, author and speaker.

How did I get here?

Let me tell you a brief story so you feel more comfortable knowing a bit about me when we work together. Also, I want to stop anybody who is living the way I was living.

I was raised by two parents who were cultural anthropologists so I spent much of my youth traveling the world. Overall, yes, it was fantastic. I saw much though...including violence, abuse and ugliness along with bountiful beauty, caring and happiness.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help others who were not where they wanted to be in their lives. I held a number of “helping” volunteer positions, even as young as junior high school. I had decided I was definitely going to become a clinical psychologist.

I went to college at Brown University in Rhode Island where I received my BA in Psychology. Then...well, I kind of got off track and went into the business world.

I even went so far as to get my MBA from UCLA and I became quite successful in the hospitality and real estate industries. Don’t worry...getting off track serves me well in my work today.

After a while, I had an overdue talk with myself and realized I wasn’t happy. I decided to go after my true passion so I went back to school to obtain a MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I developed a thriving private practice and was incredibly busy.

I better confess here that I used to be a major Type A and a perfectionist (Type A+). Besides my private practice, I was also writing, doing public speaking, volunteering and trying to manage a home and a family.

Well, too much was too much. I realized I was feeling a lot of stress but I didn’t have a chance to slow down...stress slammed the brakes on me. I was experiencing severe fatigue, chronic pain and losing all of my hair! I ended up in the hospital for a couple of months and the doctors had to call my family two times to say “good-bye” to me.

Well, I persisted and came out with diagnoses including diabetes, lupus, fibromyalgia, my pancreas had been removed and
there were a host of other conditions thrown in for good measure!
Recovery was painfully slow. I was so depressed due to the pain and the feelings of having lost everything, including myself.

You see, I wasn’t able to “do” and “perform” anymore. I gathered up my energy and started studying eastern, alternative and western healing techniques and developed a program I followed
closely. I slowly but surely got better and better. People were coming up to me and saying, “You look so much better now”! Was that supposed to make me feel good?

I learned a lot about patience and acceptance during that period and that most suffering could be eliminated. I also realized that how I chose to perceive stress had everything to do with how it affected me, for good or bad. I wrote my first book, “High on Stress” which discussed a concept I developed called “prostress”, basically positive stress.

I’ve continued to learn and grow and now I have so much energy...but, I don’t squander it. I’ve learned how to get rid of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, hopelessness, stress and so many other negative conditions.

My toolkit of techniques is expansive and with studying neuroscience for the last 10 years, I have so many scientifically based, proven techniques to help individuals make actual changes in the structure and functioning of their brains.

You will definitely be able to get rid of your negative “stinking thinking” and replace it with rational, positive thinking. Focusing on positives causes the development of positive neural pathways in our brains. This feeds forward and makes us think, feel and act in positive manners. Without stress, the cortex is relieved and productivity, decision-making, memory, creativity and decision-making are maximized.
